Things to think about...

  • Having a circus requires space - approximately 50m by 50m.

  • Your school grounds will need to be accessible by large vehicles.

  • Our circus team will need to be staying on site. You will need to check with your headteacher that the school is happy with this. We do not need access to toilets or showers but would require access to electricity.

  • You will need to carry out a risk assessment, however, as the circus is self-contained, these are available on request.

  • Ensure that any third party providing equipment has their own public liability insurance.

  • Prior planning is absolutely key! Please see our availability calendar <<here>>

Solutions for small schools

We have a smaller tent that can hold 230 people. Spread the cost by partnering with other local school or schools to share the cost and profit of the circus in exchange for use of a
fields. Also consider village greens. If a circus on site is to much to chew then we can offer great education workshops. We offer a great Science show which complements KS1/KS2 topics, where children learn why objects fall, speed up, change direction or balance while playing with diabolos and plate spinning. They can even use their newly-acquired skills in a performance to a paying audience.

Why a circus?

Pre-selling tickets

means a guaranteed audience at your event - hence making it easy to cater for your punters.
✔ Having a circus tent brings a colourful rainproof attraction to your outdoor event, providing a ready-made wet weather contingency plan!
✔ Whole families will come along for the experience
✔ It will attract people from outside your school hence meaning more money being spent at stalls and at the event.
✔ Most of the work involved happens pre-event and by us. Apart from checking tickets and maybe selling food on the day you can relax and enjoy the show!

✔Great learning tool and resource for the entire school

✔Fun circus skills to learn for each child

✔Teaching with the WOW factor

Case study

Tanja Kent, Chair, Collis Primary School, Middlesex (800 pupils), tells us about her circus success: 'I wanted to shake things up abit. Our summer fairs had become stale. We had run out of ideas for our summer events and attendance was low. We decided to ring up Cirque Normandie. They came on site and gave us loads of ideas for how we could have a successful event. Cirques Normandie sent us promotional material, tickets and events folder with every bit of information you could possibly need (including insurance certificates, selling techniques, planning, etc).

We sold our ticket for £12.50 for adults and £11 for children. We had a 2 week special of £10 a ticket exclusively available to Collis families. We limited the first 600 tickets to £10. There after the tickets where full prices. Except for the shows that where least popular. We had 5 shows 1 on Friday evening 6pm, 2 on Saturday 11am and 3p and Sunday same time. We had a BBQ on all 3 days. We also had 3 bouncy castles of various difficulties. We also created a selfie booth and a pint pot Tombola which the children donated and filled. We had several other games such as beat the goalie ( dressed as a clown), pin the nose on the clown. We also sold tickets to an after school works shop at £5 a head to 100 children. We also had circus skills which we asked for £2.50 from each child. Circus skill brought in £500 alone and the donations brought in an additional £750! We also sold advertising on the back of the flyers which brought in £900. Our program for the show made an additional £1000 in advertising space sales.  Cirques Normadie handled all our ticket sales and advertising. We managed to sell 1750 tickets - we managed to sell 90% of our tickets with minimal effort with the local community outside the school attending.

The circus crew were so warm and welcoming and very friendly and didn't mind answering my million questions on the day of the event and before. We had a fancy dress day on the Friday that the circus started for the children to dress in circus-themed clothes for £1, so the audience looked wonderful! The show was spectacular with lots of smiles and happiness. During interval time we sold our sox off - selling balloon animals, face painting, bouncy castles and selling food. We've had so much positive feedback since the event that we've decided to book it again. We were thrilled to make £10 300 clear profit from this event, and would not hesitate in recommending it to other schools.'

Why bring a circus into your school...

Tag it onto a summer or spring fair or have it stand alone. A circus is something different and will definitely bring parents, children and outside punters to your event to help raise funds for your school. In turn making huge profits for minimal effort for your school.

We have a winning formula that helped raise £10 500 for a local school lately. And we can show you how to do this.

Having a circus at your fair or at your school may seem like a daunting process but we can help you with most things and make raising funds as easy as throwing a pie!

I mean how often does a circus come to town let alone to your school and on your door step!
